Becoming a Member

Aneurin Bevan Community Health Council (ABCHC) is a statutory organisation representing the interests of National Health Service (NHS) patients in Gwent.  We form a local link between those who run the NHS and those who use it.

At Aneurin Bevan CHC we cover all aspects of the NHS and have the following rights:
  • to be consulted by the Health Board on substantial changes to the patterns of health care in Gwent
  • to visit the premises
  • to have formal meetings with the Health Board and receive information needed to carry out our duties

At Aneurin Bevan CHC we:

  • monitor the quality of local services
  • make suggestions for improving the standard of health care
  • act as patients’ advocates by giving advice, information and assistance when making a complaint
  • We represent you by:
  • listening to public and patient views
  • visiting hospitals and other health services
  • undertaking independent surveys to find out the views of patients and public
  • involving people in local consultations
  • responding to consultation on changes to local health services
  • recommending improvements to local services
We are currently looking for full and co-opted members from around Gwent.  The positions are unpaid but any expenses are reimbursed.
